How we're funded
Affiliate disclosure

The short version
As an Amazon Associate, Gate & Guard earns from qualifying purchases. When you click a buy button on this site and then buy something on Amazon, Amazon may pay us a small commission. You pay the same price you would pay anyway. The commission is how we pay for the site, and it's why the site has no paywall and no sponsored placements.
How our links work
Buy buttons on this site go through a short redirect on our own domain (an address that starts with “/go/”) and then on to the retailer, currently Amazon. The redirect adds our Amazon Associates tracking tag so Amazon can credit the sale. Links to a retailer carry a small “#ad” label and are marked as sponsored links for search engines. Links to research, brand fit guides and other sources in our articles are ordinary links and earn nothing.
Our buy buttons go to the Amazon product listing for the exact model we reviewed, so check the size, color and pack count on the listing before you order. If we later join a brand's own affiliate program, we'll link to that brand's store only when it's a better deal for you (better price, stock or warranty), and this page will list it.
Prices
Prices are set by the retailer and change often. We don't print a price we can't verify as current. Any price you see on a buy button comes from Amazon's own product data, carries the date it was checked, and disappears on its own if it goes stale - when that happens the button reads “Check price on Amazon” instead of showing a number we can no longer stand behind. We never type a price into the article text. The price on Amazon at the moment you buy is the one that applies.
Why commissions don't pick the winners
Every product is scored on a published rubric for the specific hazard the page is about, from the maker's specs, opening and fit charts and cited research. Brands don't pay for placement and can't buy a better score. Where a free fix (move it, anchor it, cut the cord loop) solves the problem, that comes first and the product comes after. The full method is on how we choose, and our standards are in the editorial policy.
